Economic life in Vennesla

There are a lot of different shops and industries in Vennesla.

There are shops like grocery shops, clothing stores, gasstations, bakeries and restaurants.

The local community is an agriculture district with many farms.A middle large farm in Vennesla has ca. 40 acres and around 20 cows.There is mostly milk production.

 

Industries

There are some huge industries in Vennesla:

Vigeland Metal Refinery

Vigeland Metal Refinery was built in the period 1906 to 1908. The metal refinery was one of the first build in Norway. They are today refining superpure aluminium.
Vigeland Metal Refinery has applied for a renewed concession. The old concession is from 1974. SFT wants to put forward demands about noise, and can order the factory to do measuring.
Vigeland Metal Refinery claims that it has not received any complaints from the neighbours.
 


Norwegian Wallboard A\S  

"Norwegian Wallboard" is on of the biggest work sites in Vennesla.
We will examine work conditions and the industry impact in the district where we live.

"Norwegian Wallboard" is located "Vikeland in Vennesla" municipality. They produce Huntonitt building plates for houses and industry purposes.
Main products are decoration plates such as ready painted roof and wall plates.
 
 

Hunsfos.

Owners:
Cham-Teneor paper mills INC.
Cham paper group is from 1999 the sole owner of the shares in Hunsfos factory ASA.

Location:
Hunsfos factory ASA was founded as a joint-stock company on 17 March 1886 and was located on the island of Hunds
Island in the Otra river. The mill is approximately 20km north of Kristiansand on the south coast of Norway.

       Three business areas:
Hunsfos factory has three business areas:
Fine quality paper, flexible packaging system and wallpaper base. Production capacity is approximately 130,000 tons of  paper. The coater has a capacity of 45000 tons.
Investments forms specialised products.

In 1994, the company started the investment program P2000.Stages 1 and 2 to support the development to advance more specialised products. Stage 3 of the investment program, which mainly consists reconstruction of PM4 for production of higher quality paper, was initiated in 1997 and completed in 1998.

 After investments in a new re-pulping unit, Hunsfos closed down it’s Sulphite pulp mill in April 1999. From that time Hunsfos are tailor making it’s production on various sulphite pulp products whith increased and improved quality.


Scan Trade
 

Scan Trade is the only import of Umbro into Norway.Their main office is placed in Vennesla, Vikeland.
This building is huge,4300m2 and there are 2880 different articles.They deliver equipment to Manchester United and the Norwegian football team.Umbro has become very famues in almost every sport in the world.
There are eight persons who have got full post(Eight hours each day).
And there are also 30 part-time employees.
