The Middle age 1030 - 1537 a.D.
We would like to point out, that the terms we use in this article are related to Norwegian history and Norwegian reality. They don't reflect international history. Most of the finds, here in Vennesla, are from the older Iron age.
For 5000- 7000 years ago, some flinstones were found at a holm in "Linnvann" at "Kvarstein". This is the oldest find in Vennsla.
At "Vigeland" two axes were found in 1950. These were assumed to be 6000 years old.

- Huge grave field with both oblong- and circle formed barrowswere found. There where also found a crossformed club and pieces of flint.
"Vennesla"-Two circle formed barrows. A sword and a axe of flint where found nearby. Descended from the Stone age.
"Eikeland" - At "Slettansbakkane" an axe of flint was found. This can now be seen at Kristiansand museum.
"Moseid" - Once there were seven barrows here. They are now removed. There were different things inside the barrows. For example iron eaten away by rust, bowl with handle, thing made of bone (bonecomb) and bumed bones. Descended from the Iron age.
"Heisel" - One destroyed barrow
"Foss" - Two pearls were found at a farm. They descended from the 14th to the 15th century.
"Ravnaas" - On the yard a flintdagger was found.
"Haegeland" - Knife of iron (3 pieces)
"Stallemo" - Large fields of barrows with 23 circle - and oblongformed barrows.
"Oevreboe" - On the countryside on the hill north for the old priestfarm, a castle was found.
"Sangesland" - 2 graves, one of them was from the earlier century. One of the grave is very well protected.
"Aamdal" - In the local country there is a grave yard with 3 graves.
"Reiersdal" - 5 barrows
"Skarpengland" - One circleformed and one oblongformed barrow are found. In one of thr barrows it was also found a speartip.
"Loland" - 3 circleformed barrows. In one of them there were found:
Descended from the Roman age/Migration age.
"Sandland" - 16 barrows of different size and shape. There is also a stone monument with inscriptions from the 19th century.
"Haugland" - Lumps of iron which tells us about ironextract.
"Steinsland" - A flat rock, and under this the remains of a killed human being.
"Gunstveit" - At a local place called "Lunden" it has lain barrows, but now they are gone. People on the farm moved in the 18th century. A pile nearby has been preceived as a barrow, but it is probably natural.
"Hoeversland" - Here lies a pail which has been precived as a barrow.
"Kile" - Here stands the location "Hjuringtallet",- a tack. It testifies about Knifesstabbing and murders between people from "Eikeland" or "Haegeland/Kile". About 150 feet north of the tack at a hill nearby the old postroad, lies "Skredfjellet". According to history, once but the time a preast and his horse should have slepped. The preast died and a cross was put there.
"Beinestveit" - Once it was a pond called "Gaasedammen". It is now gone. Southwest of this pond a barrow lied here until 1956. In this barrow a little king, king Gaas, should have been buried, but nothing was found.
