DRIVING FORCES

Power-plan is the main reason for the heating of the water in Venneslafjorden, and than also the reason for the increasing growing of the Juncus supinus.

PRESSURE

The growing of krypsiv goes faster if the ice doesn’t come, as it live over the winter and makes long chains. Therefor has the different power plants, in Otra, been claimed because they heat up the water. This, together with the mild winters, can therefor be the main reason to the problem.

STATE

There is very much creeping rush in Venneslafjorden, and in Drivenes there has been an incredible increasing of creeping rush this summer.

IMPACT

The problems around creeping rush have undoubtedly it’s influence on the life both on and around Venneslafjorden and Kilefjorden.

RESPONSE

In 1997 the bottom of Venneslafjorden was cleansed, and the creeping-rush removed. The project seemed to be successful, but now two years later the creeping rush is again a problem.
