Hunsfos factories in Vennesla
Hunsfos is located on the island of Hunsøya in Otra river system. The mill is situated in Vennesla approximately 20 km north of Kristainsand on the south coast of Norway. Since its establishment, Hunsfos has been an integrated pulp and paper mill where timber is converted into paper in a continuous process. Hunsfos Fabrikker is one of Europes major suppliers of suphite packaging paper, and is a leading producer of coated and uncoated wallpaper.
There are five papermills at Hunsfos. There is a lot of noise around these machines. The noiselevel is about 92 dBA. You must use ear protection if the noise level is higher than 85dBA. There have been few complaints concerning noise from the nearest neighbours. The complaints are about steam blow outs at the factory.
We have made a research about how the problems of noise have developed lately. As a result of the research we discovered that lots of the neighbours in the area are bothered by noise from Hunsfos (88% of the people asked ). We have also carried out noisemeasurings( from 100 meters away we made two kinds of measurements, the average was 58,5dB and max 65dB).
The factory works temporary on closing the cellulose-section. This will lead to less noiseproblems.
