Vennesla Activity Club

-Preventive work against drugs

Vennesla Activity Club runs several activities to help prevent the use of drugs among youth in Vennesla. The club was founded in 1987 on private initiative.

There are several clubs and groups under the activity club, such as ; The boat group which arranges trips to the sea, the mechanical club where those who are interested in mopeds and cars may work on these, the diving group where diving trips are arranged and the youth may borrow equipment, and the rock club where several kids start bands and are allowed to use the club house, Moonlight, to practice. The bands hold concerts several  Fridays – disco.

Disco on Friday

Every Friday and some Saturdays there are a disco at Moonlight. This is a drug-free arrangement and everyone has to take an alcohol-test and pockets and purses have to be emptied. For a lot of the kids in Vennesla this has been a good alternative to the Friday night drinking. Several times a year there are special theme parties arranged at the disco, like beach parties, grill parties, popcorn parties and scum parties. These things always draw quite a crowd.

These last few years the activity club has been in charge of arranging the youth talent competition in Vennesla. It has been a big success every time.

In addition to all these activities you can visit Moonlight from Monday-Friday from 17.00 to 22.00. In the afternoon youth can meet here to use the computers, play pool or just simply meet people.

All those who want, can join the Activity club. The membership lasts for one year, and costs 6$ for those under 18 years and 12$ for those who are older. If you are a member you get several advantages in the club. You may visit some club arrangements without having to pay full price and you can join all the trips that the club arranges.
