is Blue Cross?
Blue
cross is an organisation which runs a program that helps drug addicts What
do Blue Cross do for the drug addict in Vennesla? The
treatment centre Loland Treatment Centre treat drug addicts. This centre is owned by the Blue Cross department in Vennesla, which runs it. Blue cross is an organisation that exists all over Norway. The treatment centre is established in beautiful surroundings 25 km north of Kristiandsand. They have possibilities to do activities inside and outside. Their treatment programme is focused on three important sides of the human nature: the physical, the psychical and the spiritual. All human beings need to cover these aspects. They wish to give the patients an understanding of their own needs. The centre offers short- and long-range treatment. There are two main departments: The rehabilitation department and the training department. The Training Department In this department those who are addicts at the age 18 to 40, get help. They can treat 21 persons at the same time, and all of them have their own room. The goal is to offer them a safe environment without any kinds of drugs. The
Treatment
program Phase
1:
The patient is going to learn to understand the problem he/she has and how
these have caused problems to the family. Phase
2: They
have to learn how to deal with bad feelings without any drugs. Phase 3: Each person gradually builds up his/her self-confidence to handle a life without intoxication. Each patient has an
assistant that follows the concerned through the entire treatment
programme. The
clients get the opportunities to have conversations in groups, family
conversations, teaching at a 6th form college nearby and
different excursions. Many clients continue their treatment in the treatment centres’ own bachelor program. The Rehabilitation
department There
is room for 24 patients between 22 and 60 years old. This department is
divided into three parts, depending on the patient’ s level. The
rehabilitation department has made it its objective to give the drug
addicts the opportunity to make a new start by: stabilisation, care,
relief of fear and anxiety, common experiences and a feeling of success. The
department has also a treatment program for violent patients. Period of treatment: ·
The length of the period varies from person to person. Three to twenty
months are
usual. · Drug policy, doctor, home district or established groups for after-care.
