Ecologically cultivated food- eating habits in Vennesla.

We walked around in Vennesla centre a Monday morning, to find out how conscious people in Vennesla are when it comes to buying organic food.

The questions were these: Do you buy organic food? Why or why not? Would you have bought more organic food if it was cheaper, if you had more information about it or if there was a better selection in the stores?

The results are very surprising:

The blue area is people who answered yes, 16%.                                                                             The red area is people who answered no, 84%.

Only 16% of those we asked, are conscious buyers of ecological food. The reasons why so few buy this, are among others:

  • Scarce selection in the stores.
  • Too little information about the products.
  • Ecological food is more expensive than their "Sister- products" which is not ecological.
  • It doesn't taste good.

If the ecological food had had better quality, had been advertised, had been cheaper and easier attainable, more people would buy ecological products;  most of the people we asked in our inquiry say.

- The selection of organic food isn't exactly the best!

As the situation is now, the ecological food has not a bright future in Vennesla. Big changes is necessary if these products shall be more in demand. Changes like better selection, quality, information and price.
