Vigeland Metall Refinery A.S.
Product Analyse of Superpure Aluminium |
Vigeland Metall Refinery: Vigeland Metal Refinery (VMR) lies by Hunsfossen in Vennesla, and is one of the leading producers of superpure aluminium (99.99% pure aluminium). VMR produces about 6500 tons of superpure aluminium per year. VMR has their own water hydroelectric power station (Vigeland Bruk A.S.). The production of superpure aluminium is very energy demanding and VMR has therefore very good suppositions for this, because it has access to a lot of waterenergy from Hunsfossen.
Use and Import: Superpure aluminium is used for everything from space travel to lamps and components in computers. Vigeland Metall Refinery (VMR) imports aluminium from Sibir in Russia. The Aluminium is transported by boat to Norway and there it is transportet with truck to the aluminiumsfactory on Vigeland, where it is cleansed with help from electrolysis. Recycling: Aluminium is so clean that when it is used and trown away, 100% of it can be recycled and be used again, but here in Norway we do not manage to recycle more than 70%. What we do not use over again will end up as waste, that ends up in waste disposal sites.
