RESEARCH AT SØRLANDSSENTERET

In this research we have tried to find out of the shopping habits of the inhabitants of Vennesla. We interviewed a couple of people and asked them the following question: - Do you prefer shopping at Sørlandssenteret before in the village of Vennesla?

The people we interviewed also had to state the reasons for their answers, and out of the answers we got we came down to this: The youths in Vennesla prefer shopping at Sørlandssenteret before using the local shopping opportunities.

The reasons to choose Sørlandssenteret are that the center has more selection and that it’s a good place to go shopping when it’s bad weather. The youths also thinks that the shops in the village of Vennesla is boring and that they only fits those who’s either 7 or 70 years old...

One point that is against Sørlandssenteret are the relative long driveway, and that a trip by bus takes too long. - When I have got the car I drive to Sørlandssenteret, but otherwise I use to go shopping in Kristiansand, said one, and it is probably many who thinks that the bus-connection from Vennesla to Sørlandssenteret is too bad.

But when the weather’s good, do the youths in Vennesla then go shopping in the village of Vennesla? - No, when it’s good weather we goes to Kristiansand, answers nearly everyone.

What’s wrong with the village of Vennesla? What is it that cause the youths to run out of the city when it comes to shopping? Vennesla should probably aim at extending their shopping opportunities for their inhabitants, and if they want the youths to go shopping in the village of Vennesla, it’s pretty clear what has to be done: - Get more shops for the youths!
