This is how the heatingpump works:

In a heatingpump, a special gas is sent through an evapurator and a condenser. The condenser is placed inside the building, and here the temperature of the gas is much higher than normal room-temperature. The heat from the gas is transferred to the heating system of the house.

The pressure of the gas is reduced just as it moves on to the evapurator outside, and now the temperature of the gas falls. The gas is transformed to liquid because of low pressure and temperatue, and this liquid has much lower temperature than its surroundings outside.

Because of this, the gas in the evapurator outside is warmed up by free energy in rock, the ground, water or air, even on a cold winter day. This transfers so much energy to the liquid that it evaporates. The heat fetced from the enviroment is stored in the area as evaporated heat.

By using a compresser driven by electric power, the gas is sucked out of the evaporator. Here the gas is compressed, and the temperature and pressure increases. The compressed warm gas is again pushed into the condensor, where the stored energy is transferd to the heatingsystem of the house. This process is repeated.
