About Hunsfos

Speciality Paper Makers
The internationally active Cham Paper Group is a leading manufacturer of speciality base papers for Pressure Sensitive Materials, Flexible Packaging, Technical-industrial applications, Woodfree Fine Papers and Wallpaper Base.
Five mills, in Norway, Switzerland and Italy, produces approx.
280,000 tonnes per annum which are sold world-wide.
The Cham Paper Group is one of the most highly respected suppliers of speciality grade papers in the world. The global presence as a specialist manufacturer is supplemented by a strategic alliance with Consolidated Papers Inc. (USA), Stevens Point Division. Within Cham Paper Group approx. 1,100 employees achieve an annual turnover of about CHF 430m.
Hunsfos Fabrikker has three business areas: Fine Paper, Flexible Packaging and Wallpaper Base. Production capacity is approximately 130,000 tonnes of paper. The coater has a capacity of approximately 45,000 tonnes.
At present, the company has five paper machines, PM 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. During the first years of operation, Hunsfos concentrated on fine paper. In the 1940s, the company developed into one of Europe’s major manufacturers of MG sulphite packaging paper, and in the 1970s production of wallpaper commenced. Over the past few years, a conscious effort has been made to shift the product range over to more specialised niche products. In 1976, an off-machine coater was put into operation. Wallpaper and packaging paper from PM 5 and PM 6 are coated.
Hunsfos Fabrikker ASA was formed as a joint-stock company on 17 March 1886, and was located on the island of Hunsøya in the Otra river system. The mill is situated in Vennesla, approximately 20 km north of Kristiansand on the south coast of Norway.
