ANALYSIS OF SURVEY

In this survey regarding crime and violence 81 youth have been involved, 48 girls and 33 boys.

CRIME: 16 girls and 18 boys though there is much crime in Vennesla. Most of them thought that petty theft and drug abuse was most common in the field of crime, which is in accordance with what Arne Sundvoll said about crime in Vennesla. As many as 40 of the girls and 21 of the boys do not think enough is beeing done to redusce the rate of crime.

VIOLENCE: 17 of the girls are afraid of becoming victims of violence, while only 5 of the boys fear this.  When asked whether any of them had ever been the victim of an act of violence, 12 of the girls prelied in the affirmating, 3 serious and 9 less serious act of violence.

When we look at the figures regarding crime reduction, we see that a great many youths do not think enough is being done.  Perhaps the district autorities should concult the youths, e.g. concerning night life, that is ask them which measures they think will work.  We see that girls are more afraid of beiing a victims of violence than boys are, and this is pobebly "normal".  Despite this, more boys than girls are victims of violence
