Excursion in Brandehei

Purpose:

The purpose with this excursion was to find out more about what kind of edible berries they have in Vennesla.

Equipment:

Clothes for the occasion

Digital camera

Norwegian flower book

HIGH SPIRITS

Description and observations:

Due to the fact that this excursion took place 6th of June 2001, the weather was gray and sad. The air and the ground was pretty wet, so we had clothes that were suited for the weather conditions.

The excursion took place in an area in Brandehei neighborhood, which lies pretty close to our school.

The place was pretty open if you look at the amount of trees, but it drizzled of life here. The place was vigorous. In this area there were a lot of blueberry plants.

Afterwards we took with us some examples of different kind of plants. We used a digital camera to take pictures of many of the plants.

In this area we found: Raspberry plants, blueberry plants, Bird cherries, whortleberries, rowan, crowberries, whortleberries and junipers.

Conclusion:

Because of the time of the year (6th June) none of the plants/trees have berries on them. Some of the plants have formed unripe fruit/berry.

We found blueberry, mountain cranberry, crowberry, juniper berry and whortleberry plants in the upper/higher ground while bird cherry and raspberry plant in the lower grounds.

Rowanberry where found in both areas/grounds.

The berries dont come until July- August.
