The vegetation around Hunsfos fabrikker Here is a map of the area
We focused our reserch on the areas around the "renseri" and around the beginning of the railroadtracks. But before we could do our reserch, we had to get permission from the employees at Hunsfos. Are took care of the paperwork and got helmets for all of us. Now we were free to go where ever we wanted to go. Here has Håvard taken a picture of Tarald and Are with their helmets on.
Now we started our reserch on the area that we had selected. Here is some of the different sorts of flowers and plants that we found.
A more detailed description of some of the flowers and plants: Bluebell: There were not so many of these in the area, but we found some. Toadflax: There were more toadflax then bluebells, but there were not many of these either. The picture below is a picture of the toadflax flower.
Heather: There were alot of heather in the area, especially where there was heavy vegetation. Male fern: We found this plant in the area around the railroad tracks, but we did not find many of these either. There were also different sorts of trees in the area. We found: spruce, Birch, oak and elm.
To sum it all up, I think we can say that Hunsfos Fabrikker has done a good job. The area around the factory looks good, it is not perfect, but you wouldnt expect that either. We did not find any dead plants or animals. So the pollution from the factory must be transported far away. We have leared that the factory effluents mostly consist of H2O. This is because Hunsfos has done alot to improve their pipes. When the prices on electrisity are high, Hunsfos use oil as energy sorce. Some places we could se oil spill in the water and in small puddles. There was also trash in some areas, but nobody is perfect. With a little more effort in removeing the trash that people notice, it would look even better. Because what most people notice is dirty water and visible trash.
