                                     Elk in Vennesla

As we can see, the number of elks shot in Vennesla has been stable from 1990 to 2000. From 1992 – 1994 a lot of extra elks were shot in Vennesla because of the big population. The number of elks which has been slain has reduced the population of elks, which was quite big from 85 to 95. Now the situation has been stabiliced. The population was reduced to keep the Vennesla and Vest – Agders goals:

Goal: A long-term goal in elk-management in Vennesla is to get a population with good condition and production in balance with the natural resources.

We can also see that the quota has almost been shot down every year. The quota has been so big because there has been too much elk in the Vennelsa forests.

As we here can see the population of elk inVennesla has gone down the way it was expected.Big quotas have been the reason why this goal has been reached.

Animals seen per day: total number of animals divided on a certain number of days. The development in this graph tells us something about the development of the elk population.

Population development: Animal seen per day has gone down even since the topyear 1991. The goal of 2000 of 50% reduction of the population in 1991 is reached. Animal seen per day was about unchanged from 1999 to 2000. This indicates that the decline of the population has stopped The population is densest in Hægeland and least in lower Vennesla.
