Ecological Food-Products
Every ecological food-product in Norway is marked with this sign :
For a food-product to be ecological it has to be produced according to comprehensive standards regarding ecology, resources and ethics, which for example means that fertilizers and other chemicals shall not be used. Why are the price higher on ecological food products ? The main reason why ecological food products are more expensive, is that the production costs are higher. Even though the farmers are spared the cost regarding fertilzers and other chemicals, the production of ecological food is more time-consuming. A survey conducted by the national
institute for consumer research (Statens institutt for
forbruksforskning) quoted in Dagbladet 5. february,
shows that 8 of 10 Norwegian consumers think that they would have
bought more ecological food products if they were cheaper.. Why ecological products ?
In Vennesla During visits to the biggest food-stores in Vennesla, we found that Coop Prix was the only one that had a comprehensive range of ecological food products.
